A clean-looking desk usually comes from combining a few different cable-management tools rather than relying on one accessory. Here are the ones that make the biggest difference:
1. Under-desk cable tray (my top recommendation)
This hides your power strip, power bricks, and excess cable length underneath the desk instead of on the floor.
Mount-It! Under Desk Cable Tray
If you have a metal desk frame, a magnetic channel is another easy option.
2. Reusable cable ties
Use hook-and-loop (Velcro-style) ties instead of zip ties so you can easily add or remove cables.

3. Cable sleeves
If several cables run from your PC to your monitor, a sleeve bundles them into one neat "trunk."

4. Desktop cable holders
These keep charging cables from falling behind the desk and make them easy to grab.

5. Cable management kit
If you're starting from scratch, an all-in-one kit gives you clips, ties, and mounts at a low cost.

My ideal setup
- Mount a cable tray under the back edge of the desk.
- Put the power strip inside the tray.
- Bundle monitor, USB, and power cables into one sleeve.
- Secure everything with reusable ties.
- Add one or two magnetic cable holders on top of the desk for your phone charger and laptop cable.
This combination usually hides 80–90% of visible cables and keeps everything easy to access. Cable management guides consistently recommend pairing a tray, reusable ties, sleeves, and cable clips because each solves a different part of the problem rather than trying to do everything with one accessory.
If you have a standing desk, I can also recommend accessories that allow the cables to move cleanly as the desk raises and lowers.
