Companies with the strongest recent construction records
These organizations have demonstrated the ability to complete large commercial reactors in the last decade:
- KHNP (South Korea): Widely regarded as having one of the best records for delivering projects close to schedule and budget. The four-reactor Barakah project in the UAE is often cited as a benchmark.
- Rosatom (Russia): The most active international exporter of large reactors by number of overseas projects, although many projects are affected by geopolitical considerations.
- CNNC and CGN (China): China has built more new reactors than any other country in recent years, giving these companies extensive recent experience.
- Westinghouse: Successfully brought the AP1000 design into commercial operation after early project delays. Vogtle Units 3 and 4 represent the first new U.S. reactors completed in decades.
Companies with mixed records
- EDF/Framatome: Highly experienced and technically capable, but recent EPR projects in Finland, France, and the UK have experienced significant cost overruns and delays. Taishan in China was completed more successfully than the European projects.
