   Give me a few low effort ways to make a team meeting less painfully boring.

   Absolutely. The trick is to add tiny bits of participation without turning the meeting into a forced “team-building experience.”

   • Start with a 2-minute question. “What’s one thing you’re working on that’s surprisingly annoying?” Easy to answer, and usually gets people talking.
   • Ban the status-report monologue. Have everyone give just one win, one blocker, and one ask. Keep each person to 60–90 seconds.
   • Use a randomizer. Pick someone to kick things off, choose the next speaker, or assign who summarizes the decision. It adds a little unpredictability.
   • Put one absurd question on the agenda. “If our project were a restaurant, what kind would it be?” Spend literally 3 minutes on it.
   • Do a quick “vote with your hands.” “Who thinks we should do A? B? Neither?” Then discuss the disagreement instead of listening to 10 minutes of exposition.
   • End with a lightning round. “What’s one thing we should stop doing?” or “What’s one thing you need from the team this week?”
   • Occasionally cancel it. If there’s genuinely nothing worth discussing, send the update asynchronously. Nothing makes meetings feel more pointless than meeting because the calendar says so.

   Lowest-effort combo: start with one question, keep updates to 90 seconds each, and end 5 minutes early. That alone can make a meeting feel dramatically better.
